• Airguns back on sale at last!

We are pleased to announce that we have now been issued our Registered Firearms Dealers Certificate (RFD), which now allows us to sell air guns and air pistols once again.

The requirement for an RFD was as a result of the Violent Crime Reduction bill (VCR) that came in to force on 1st October 2007. The security upgrades neccesary have now been made and air guns are back on sale and, in addition, we are able to purchase them off of the public.

We are able to buy and sell seven days a week so feel free to pop in.

• Airgun update!

We are pleased to confirm that airguns will shortly be back on sale again in the Victor Morris store.

It has taken us longer than anticipated, which has partly been due to extensive new security arrangements being required. As you will probably realise, the work required to be carried out is of a special nature and many of the fittings required are custom made and are not available off the shelf. We now have one final major upgrade required, which we hope to have completed within a few weeks.

Very shortly, after work is finished, air rifles and pistols will be once again on sale.

• Thanks for the invite Kenny!

Despite having been at the sharp end of loutish justice minister Kenny MacCaskill's tongue, Martin Morris, owner of Victor Morris, was not invited, or asked to contribute, to the latest public money wasting exercise on firearms.

It seems rather strange that Kenny MacCaskill, and certain individuals within the Scottish Government, are able to find the time to have to go at us but can not be bothered to pick up the phone and ask for an opinion.

What it really boils down to is the fact that Kenny MacCaskill quotes highly misleading figures and makes equally misleading statements and is simply nothing more than a big coward who can't sort out real issues affecting people of Scotland when it comes to crime, alcohol, drugs and prisons.

• Air guns and replica guns status update.

The work required to obtain our Registered Firearms Dealer Certificate (RFD) is now 50% complete and, with a bit of luck, we will be back selling air rifles and air pistols some time towards the end of January. As soon as we have more news, we will publish it here on this section of our website.

• Violent Crime Reduction bill (VCR), air guns and replica guns.

From 1st October 2007, many sections of the Violent Crime Reduction bill (VCR) come into force. This means a seller of air guns requires, by law, a Registered Firearms Dealer Certificate (RFD). Due to some of the work involved to upgrade our security, we will not be in possession of a RFD when the requirements change on Monday 1st October 2007.

Therefore, Sunday 30th September 2007 will be the last day that we will be selling air guns and replica guns until further notice.

However, we intend to start reselling air rifles and air pistols within three to four months (if not sooner). The security work required will start very shortly.

We have NOT been refused the necessary Registered Firearms Dealer Certificate (RFD) but we will be granted one once the security upgrades have been made.

In the meantime, we shall still have stock of most other products as well as ammunition, gun scopes and CO².

An announcement, and progress report, will be placed on this section of the website so check back for details in the next few weeks.

• Get real Aberdeen Council!

Councillor Norman Collie yesterday became the latest politically motivated big mouth to try to push for restrictions on airguns. Rather than get on with the job that he was elected to do, he has chosen to waste thousands of pounds of council taxpayer's cash on pointless reports into restricting peoples legitimate pastimes.

Whether Councillor Collie, and the other nine that voted with them, like it or not, firearms legislation is reserved for Westminster NOT a bunch of power hungry clowns in the north east of Scotland.

A council cannot ban airguns - end of story!

• Stiffer penalties for knife crime at last!

Martin Morris, owner of Victor Morris Sports & Electrical, congratulates Lord Advocate Colin Boyd QC on doing what we have been saying for the last fifteen years, namely bringing in stiffer sentencing for people carrying a knife for anything other than legitimate reasons.

Politician after politician have whined, waffled and generally talked hot air for long enough on this issue. So well done Mr. Boyd at last moving forward to removing the scourge of knife crime that has blighted Scotland for the last seventy years.

Martin Morris also calls for more detailed statistics regarding knife crime including the types of knives been used, the source of the knife and why the person wished to posess the knife illegally.

We look forward to the new guidelines being implemented swiftly, properly and fairly at the earliest opportunity.

• Kenny MacCaskill talking rubbish.

Kenny MacCaskill, loudmouth SNP MSP and Justice Spokesman, has been talking rubbish once again. In a statement made today, he called for shops selling airguns in Scotland to be licensed. Also, once again in an effort to either mislead the public or to exaggerate numbers, he states "These shops are situated on high streets the length and breadth of the country".

Sorry to have to correct you again Mr. Bigmouth but there are probably only about thirty to forty shops in Scotland selling a range of airguns. Of these you will be lucky if there are any more than ten or twelve shops on any actual high street in Scotland. Glasgow, for instance, only has two.

Come on Kenny! Either get the facts right yourself or get a researcher with a brain. Better still, why not resign your seat and stand for Westminister as an MP. The only problem is that the police might still recognise your face!

• Simple way to solve crime - more Police Officers on the beat!

In 'The Herald' newspaper this morning, it was reported that the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPOS) in Scotland have called for, among other measures, a "cooling off" period when buying a knife in Scotland. Yet again there is little or no evidence to support their idea that this would make any difference to knife crime. Martin Morris, owner of Victor Morris said "There are only two ways to solve this kind of street type crime. One is for the police to be given the funding so more bobbies are on the beat and secondly, for the courts to use the existing powers to penalise idiots that carry any bladed instrument for the purpose of inflicting injury".

It is also interesting that another measure suggested is for all purchasers of knives to be asked for their name, address and identification. The shop, Victor Morris, have been doing this for many years now and call on all other vendors to join in this practise.

• We call on Kenny MacCaskill to stop interfering in matters of no concern to Holyrood!

Martin Morris, owner of Victor Morris, and Kenny MacCaskill SNP MSP and Shadow Minister of Justice, went head to head today in a live debate regarding airguns on BBC Radio Scotland. Mr MacCaskill, whilst wishing all guns banned or severely restricted, did not come up with any figures regarding claims of airgun misuse. There were also a number of callers to the show, who, with the exception of one or two, were NOT in favour of a ban.

Martin Morris commented, "Once again we have another politician mouthing off about a subject he has clearly not researched. It is even more ridiculous that he should be speaking on a subject regarding restricting sales when the Holyrood parliament has no say in the matter. To have a politician like Kenny MacCaskill talking about law and order is plainly ridiculous when a few years ago he was arrested outside Wembley for being drunk and disorderly!".

We call on Kenny MacCaskill to deal with the matters he was elected for in the Scottish Parliament and STOP trying to interfere with a parliament he was not elected to simply for the purpose of cheap political gain.
